About Us
Herring Farms, Inc. was established in 1958 by E. D. Herring along with his father and brother. At that time, they were known for producing top-quality corn, cotton, tobacco, and soybeans as well as managing livestock. In 1968 E.D. Herring took over the family farm due to an illness in the family. In 1982, it was decided to lay aside managing livestock and concentrate on producing tobacco cotton soybeans and corn. At this time, the produce was being taken to several different locations for packaging and shipping. Around the mid '90s cucumbers were introduced into the menu of things offered at Herring Farms, Inc.
With the continued growth, Herring Farms, Inc. started Herring Produce, a fully functional packing facility with the capability of packaging 25,000 to 30,000 boxes per day. In addition to packaging our produce, we are able to ship on average 355 loads per month, In 1996 Danny and Joey Herring, E.D.'s sons, took over the business from their father. In 2007, the Herring brothers decided to try their hand in the turf grass business. Herring Farms and Herring Produce currently produce fresh vegetables for markets and quality sod for the surrounding communities. Danny and Joey continue to manage and operate the family business that has been part of their heritage for over three generations.
Keeping their Southern heritage alive, the Herrings participate in the semi-annual Old Time Farm Days. Please see the photo gallery for pictures from the latest tractor show. Also feel free to keep coming back and looking up our upcoming events. This is complete with the Alapahoochee Historic and Farm Heritage Days, where we will have an antique tractor show and pull.
